About you;
In these weeks, weight increase, frequent movements from the baby, regular visits to the toilet and leg cramps usually mean sleepless nights for the expectant mother which leaves the expectant mother longing for more sleep. A light dinner, breathing and relaxation exercises, a warm shower, and massage administered by your spouse on your neck and shoulders with lavender oil along with music you like may ease you into relaxation and help you remain asleep for longer periods. Avoid places or conditions that may cause you to contract a urinary tract infection. This condition may trigger labour. Hence, you must drink lots of fluids and urinate frequently. You may gain 8-12 kg on average. Back and lower back pain will increase and colostrum, the first milk which your breasts produce may be discharged. You can start using breast pads. Also, you may experience regular contractions.
The following can be preterm labour signs:
● Contractions that are repeated at regular intervals
● Pinkish discharge from the vagina
● Intense pressure on the lower abdomen
Under such circumstances, contact your doctor immediately and go to the nearest hospital.
Avoid sneezing: sudden sneeze may cause urination. Also, your digestive complaints may escalate compared to previous months. Eat frequently in small portions, to remedy or mitigate the effects of pregnancy on your digestive system.
There will be less movement after the 35th week since your baby has less room in the womb and labour could start any time.
Your baby…
At this stage, the baby’s growth accelerates, subdermal fatty tissues accumulate at a faster pace, he/she gets taller, the wrinkled appearance of his/her skin smooths out and gains a pinkish hue and becomes supple. The fine hair coating his/her skin falls off while the remaining fine hair on the forehead, back and shoulders disappear within 3 months of birth. Also, the baby’s nails now extend to the tip of his/her fingers while development of the liver will be complete. Babies born after the 36th week won’t have any breathing problems. The baby’s pee makes up most of the amniotic liquid and the amount of the liquid decreases gradually after the 35th week.
At the end of the 35th week, the baby is approximately 45 cm long and weighs 2-2.5 kg.
